Let's call a pedophile what it is: MJ

post by dawn garcia |

"It's like they always say, if you are rich and white, you can get away with anything" - Jimmy Kimmel commenting on the Michael Jackson trial. I realize this particular entry will spur on some controversy but at the risk of being taboo, I write this anyway out of sheer conscience. If I’m not mistaken there is a war of sorts happening in Iran. The people of such an extraordinary country are speaking out against the tyrannical and insidious behavior of a corrupt leader. A leader that should, by all accounts, NOT be their leader. People, citizens, are being shot down with spraying bullets from a cowardice militia while the world worries about Michael Jackson. There is also an impending war happening with North Korea. Threats being hurled onto neighboring countries by Kim Jung Il and all CNN can seem to focus on is a pathetic array of mock news about the pedophiliac entertainer known as “MJ”. Have we really sunk this low? Is it more important to fill an already ignorant world with news about a plastic man that died suddenly? While yes, he was a talented musician and performer, the man did a grave disservice to society, to children, to the good name of Peter Pan! I’m all for honoring someone but hours upon hours of so-called news about Michael Jackson - especially when the outside world is fighting for something that matters far more than pop music icons - is absolutely disgusting. We must learn where to draw the line. Sure the vast majority can continue to be useless and ignore the absolute necessity of the outside world but what if, and go with me here, we actually TELL the news and devote anything to do with entertainers and artists to that segment of the news. Why eat into otherwise perfectly good news time with stories about a man-boy who lived a very strange life, which normally would be totally fine if not for the continual mishaps with children in his bed. What human justifies that?! Seriously people wake up! The plastic manboy was not iconic in the least. Had he just been a kind and good performer I would say give the man some respect but I would still ask that news be limited to a 5-minute summation ... You know, the way news is supposed to be reported? Have we all just lost our minds? Why do we care so much about Michael Jackson? Why don’t we have the same affinity for the young men and women and brave citizens of Iran who are standing up for everything sacred and free? Because of sheer apathy. Grow a heart! Get on board with what’s actually real and tangible and stop treating celebrities like Gods. Everyone loses someone and sometimes those nameless, faceless humans we don’t hear about do far more philanthropic work and contribute more to this life than Michael friggin’ Jackson. I’m sorry. Someone has to say it. (For those who would like to have a more compassionate approach to Michael Jackson - turn on ANY channel, browse online, go to NAMBLA, surely you’ll find what you’re looking for. And then when you do, remember countries and people that are actually suffering: Africa, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia. Once you realize the world has far more pressing issues than the death of “MJ” perhaps you’ll understand why I am annoyed.)
