The race continues and my hope still lingers somewhere out there ...
Three candidates that we know of, perhaps one day we'll get down to two but that all depends on how honest everyone is. I'll admit Obama has a profound speaking ability and he can, when prompted, move his audience to believe. What I often wonder though is when the nostalgia wears off, which it inevitably will, what substance will be left standing? And then we have Hillary. Strong, experienced, but not nearly the charisma of Barack. Still, substance in the end is what sells me and I feel she's got what it takes. Lastly, we've got McCain. He's got spunk and history, experience and some speaking pizazz but will he lead this country back to redemption?
This is what we're looking at and while I've oversimplified all three, I still think we're in for an interesting campaign. Each one has plenty of flaws, plenty of downfalls, but then again they all have their strengths. Me, personally, I'm for Clinton. If anything, I'd love to see what a woman can do with this tarnished mess of a country. I mean we know what men can do and well, history speaks for itself - there are some unbelievable Presidents of the past, but why not test the waters with a woman? And no, the argument of well, let's give a black man a chance to see what he does, doesn't cut it because in the end, he still has all the parts which ... make him a man.
I don't know what the right answer is. I just know experience counts. One can talk about change forever but until change actually comes, they are empty words and Obama I fear will leave us questioning what change he was talking about. McCain may have a chance but I wonder if the worry of his age will hold him back (though it shouldn't considering age doesn't account for heath). Clinton, well if she holds on and wins NC and PA life could be looking up for her.
What concerns me most is the fate of our future President being put in the hands of Super Delegates. They can either choose who the people want or choose who they like. It's a shameful and witless political downfall. One that will determine the Democratic candidate and in the end, determine who our President will become.
