They say impeach, I say a little too late ...

post by dawn garcia |

Anyone who still believes impeachment is a good option, has not fully considered the repercussions of what they're asking. If Bush were to go (which isn't even probable at this stage in the game - his term will be over by the time it went into effect), Cheney would take his place. Let's think about that - bad aim, heart attack expert, somehow dark and sinister Cheney as our President! YIKES!!! What is truly unfortunate is that now, NOW - nearly a year away from the end of his reign as one of the worst President's in American history, Congress and latecomer Americans want to mention impeachment? How trite. Where were these people when the 2004 elections took place and once again we were left to question the political process? This is when I start asking what happened to the protesters of the 60's and 70's. Granted things were a little crazy back then but at least Americans stood up for what they believed in, they questioned the government, they fought the war, they fought back. There's a lot of talk out there but I don't see enough people taking a stand. There are so many things that deserved a fight from this Administration. For starters, the way he was elected the first time. It's safe to say we all feel something went terribly wrong. For those of you questioning it, go watch the Documentary "Bush Stole 2004 Election" by the BBC (which was banned from the US - ponder that one!), "Commander in Thief", and "Hacking Democracy". The findings are astounding. We live in a country where we are encouraged to utilize our freedom of speech (encouraged by those who aren't vested in self-interest) - we should be questioning our government. Ask questions about how things keep happening, things that defy what we as a nation are supposed to stand for. We now have become the epitome of intolerance and that is a travesty. Our government wastes time trying to overturn Roe v Wade because of their religions convictions yet they feel completely fine with murdering Iraqi's, Somalians, even our own young men and women serving in the Armed Forces. A government that feels the need to do everything in their power to stop gay marriage from happening so "gays" don't receive the same rights as heterosexual couples yet they feel compelled to deny that marriage in this country is a joke. Divorce rates are at an all-time high, domestic violence continues to happen, and sexual predators are free to commit more crimes. If this Administration gave half a $&*% about the safety and quality of life Americans deserve and less time propagating their ridiculous religious fanaticisms perhaps we could elevate ourselves to a better place in the world. I could go on and on and I promise I will eventually. For now, all I can say is it's a little too late on the Impeachment front. Face the sad fact that this country has been incredibly misrepresented by our sad excuse for a Presidential Administration. Before his days as our President are over, I would just once like to hear that man say he was wrong about Iraq. Admit he made a mistake. Maybe then he might seem more human and less ignorant and careless.
