Is there anyone NOT running for President? It's clear that Americans (and the rest of the world populace) are unhappy with the way old gun-toting, straw-chewing, war-blinded President Bush, Jr. is running the show. Sadly it seems America's standing in the world has gone from top to close middle. With a President that refuses to recognize the rest of the world as allies and important, it's no wonder the key countries (England, France, Germany, Switzerland - even Australia [the most neutral country], Japan, China, etc.) are quick to dismiss American politics as cocky, overzealous, selfish, unrelenting, and disinterested (especially, in relation to restoring foreign affairs). Even the Republicans in Congress, yes Congress, are beginning to turn on old Georgy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to fix things in the 2004 elections and the twisted and ever-faltering Bush administration was given a second reprise. They have, since then, failed even more miserably than expected. Fighting a war that is never going to be resolved (at least not by us), killing more and more soldiers unnecessarily, citizens of Iraq growing tired and distrusting of our "presence", and the Administration itself falling apart at the seams. Our politicians in the White House have officially turned our country into a Red and Blue segregated nation. The party lines have been clearly defined as totally and completely divided. But ... there's hope. It seems there is a bit of a fuss within the Republican party and now there are 10, that's right TEN, Presidential hopefuls including Rudy Giuliani (who is still milking his wonderful leadership on 9/11), John Cox (can you imagine the jokes!), Sam Brownback (just say that to yourself - President Brownback), John McCain (a POW and respected man and Senator), and Mitt Romney (he spoke at closing ceremonies of 2002 Winter Olympics). Not counting the four potential candidates, including Newt Gingrich (God, help us). (Source: www.wikipedia.org) The Democrats also have ten candidates including Hillary Clinton (the first woman candidate), Barack Obama (the first Black candidate), and Al Sharpton (the first Evangelist media-whore since 2004 - aside from Pat Robertson that is, but he's just crazy!). This should be an interesting election. In the words of Bill Clinton: "This is going to be a great election. There are so many talented and interesting candidates, people will just have to choose the one they like best." (I'm paraphrasing, I'm sure it was more profound but that's the gist). What I hope this time around is that candidates can do their campaigning without resorting to immature smear tactics. It's so demoralizing and truly classless. Let their shortcomings speak for themselves and let's hope we can actually have a clean and honest campaign season. Here's to hoping for the best in '08. On a side note - I"m gonna go ahead and say that of the 20 from both sides, there's probably a handful of competent ones that actually stand a chance. I heard on CNN that there are 3 candidates that do not believe in evolution. What bubble are you living in?!! I guess factual proof is just too much for these people. When there is evidence of evolution, physical, touchable proof, how can you deny that? I suppose if you want to win the narrow-minded elitist, Christian conservative vote, that's the route to take. Thankfully that population is quickly being called out for the many reckless actions its taken including heads of church being caught in sex scandals and the like. Religious persuasion is against what this country was based on. Having religious intolerance only goes against the basic beliefs these "believers" are supposed to stand for. Every religion needs its freaks to simply show that the people need to be careful who they follow. As far as the year we still have to endure ... I hold my breath every time George W. Bush is on TV. You'd think by now that he would have learned how to be a little charming or best be able to pronounce words like "education" or "the". He's just not a good speaker. He doesn't inspire anything and the fact that he's just recently vetoed a bill to try and create some sort of exit strategy in Iraq just goes to show he really doesn't give a damn about the American people or the soldiers. He's living in his own world where he does whatever he wants without a thought to the consequences. Humanitarian GWB is not. Selfish and ignorant he is clearly showing himself to be. When will he develop a conscience? When global warming melts his cold tactics. Maybe he is a good man in private but as a President, he is leaving a very bad taste in everyone's mouth ...
