It doesn't take a genius to see that perhaps things in this world are getting a tad topsy turvy. While my recent post discusses the scientific spoof that a penis was engineered on a rabbit and the question of what's important was more than warranted, I still think that's only the "tip" of the melting iceberg. We have become a world so incredibly obsessed with "things" and monetary value that many have actually overlooked VALUE altogether. As someone who values beauty and aesthetics, I also really truly value sincerity and genuineness. I am finding that while I endure the things around me, much like most people, I feel like there has been a tremendous shift in how we are treated by others.
Take customer service for example. What happened there? Is it rocket science to answer the phone at a company and act like you want to be there? Is it so difficult to be a nurse that actually LIKES to be around people? Or a skincare expert that oh, I don't know, wants to help your skin look its best (thanks Yvette for being the most educated and amazing skincare expert this side of the world!); Or scientists looking to, say, better mankind and focus on illnesses that are plaguing our nation and our global communities like malaria? What about swine flu? All I know is somewhere human beings became disposable. They lost their purpose and unless there is something to monetarily gain from them, it seems nothing is done to unite them. That's where we come in. When the scientific community seems to be inundated with orders for 6-day erections and dependent pharmaceutical drugs, isn't it time some of that money goes to bettering the standard of living here? It seems almost belittling to have to ask why it is that in a time when everyone needs to find something to make them feel confident and strong and empowered, there is little available to offer any tangible long-term hope. We've become a nation of band-aids. Truth is, band-aids only cover the raw wound. It doesn't make the "owie" go away. No more band-aids people ... seriously.
While words are my refuge and speaking out against those who seem to forget what and who they are, I have now embarked on a second journey. An agency devoted to making everyone feel and look beautiful but also creating a life of ease because let's face it, we all need some time to forget about the mundane.
