Here's what my issue is with the current Administration: Granted I don't have that much time but there is one constant - the lack of responsibility our President and his Administration is willing to take for the mistakes they've made. I think everyone in this country and in every other country of the world has witnessed the many mistakes we've made in terms of Iraq (any so many other facets of government). Republican, Democrat, Independent and those in between can all face that one simple truth. As a President, you should have the sense to know when you've let down your nation, when you've blatantly sent sons and daughters, mothers and fathers to fight for a very unclear and tragically messy cause. I suppose that's just it - what is the cause? I mean it can't be for democracy because if that was it, this war wouldn't be nearly as distraught as it is. Though it has been mentioned to death, the whole notion that we were so noble that we went to Iraq to give freedom to Iraqi's is such nonsense. We went to war so Jr. could clean up the disaster daddy left behind. A little revenge, a little family devotion, a little self-interest in the oil ... that's why we went to war. When it all started I was one of the hopeful ones who really did want to believe there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I wanted to have faith in Bush, even though I did not give him my valuable vote. I even defended the war and now ... now that the information is out, time has passed, and Bush has proven himself to be Presidentially challenged, my tune has changed. If we cared about the weapons of mass destruction or oppressed Iraqi's, where were we when Saddam Hussein unleashed chemical warfare on the Kurds? Have you seen photos of the maimed individuals that survived that atrocity? There are literally men and women with their faces turned inside out. It is haunting. That is precisely why I don't believe our President went to war with Iraq to offer the people a better life. I will have to add to this one ... sorry there have been such enormous gaps in between each post.
