Another Hallmark holiday passes and feelings still fly all over the place. Some saying I love you for the first time, some saying goodbye, some buying flowers or the all-too-cliche' chocolate candies. Personally we don't do Valentine's Day. Not because I'm a cynic but because honestly, every day should be the day we tell someone how we feel. Flowers should be given just because and a gesture of romance should be an integral part of your relationship. All I'm sayin' is on the upside, the economy got a boost yesterday. On the downside - people already forgot why they were so loving and nice.
Sometimes we don't need a day to remind us that love exists in our hearts or that someone out there feels something real for us. What we need is to give love and be given love in return. It's quite simple. We often forget the simple gestures in life that make living bearable. Such gestures as smiling at a stranger or reaching out for someone's hand or reminding someone they're not alone. Suffering is part of everyone's existence. Often the suffering of one is more than another can stand BUT - if we can look past the fear and judgment of our own conditioned responses, perhaps what we'll find is that in the end, just like the Beatles sang ... all we need is love.
