god hates HATE! get on board!!!

The California Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Thursday, March 5, 2009 in the Proposition 8 legal challenge. Educate Yourself: CA lawmakers back Prop 8 Challenge San Francisco Chronicle White Knot Proposition 8 Funding Prop 8 We’ve been hearing all about it and I have devoted a great many hours and days and months fighting it. California, the seemingly “liberal” state, abandoned all sense of responsibility and thoughtfulness on November 4, 2008 when copious amounts money poured heavily into the legislation stripping men and women of their rights to love and commit. In a world that is being turned upside down with values often thwarted with lies and seething hatred pounced on by religious definition, we have to STOP being so controlling and allow two consenting adults to enter into the legal marital system of their own free will. So often people sit on their judgment chair and whine about how American values have gone to sh$^. Well, they have. Values do not mean that bigots get to rule the roost. Our value system has failed miserably because more and more we are getting further and further away from the basic fundamental rights our Constitution implemented. We take for granted words like freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to assemble peacefully, and the right to petition. The freedom to express yourself should be invalid when people begin to mirror the hatred demonstrated against women and African Americans since the birth of our nation. Have we learned nothing? Our history has been one of color and hardship, social victories and political fury. America is a country meant to be a safe haven for EVERYONE! Discrimination on this level is no different than saying lynching is acceptable. It is, in fact, DETESTABLE! Those who so verbally bash and prosecute the gay community must be reminded that rights are rights. They see no race or gender or sexual preference. And yet, there are still citizens in parts of this country who look at interracial couples as something of a value system gone awry or women in power as something like a zoo animal put on display. We HAVE to change our thought process and realize that breeding more hate will only continue to devalue any “value system” we once prided ourselves on. I feel pity for those who are so cruel to a gay couple wanting to marry; holding up signs that say “God hates fags” (Which I have seen and have posted on my blog out of sheer disgust) because really, the sign should read, “God hates bigots. But more importantly, God hates HATE!” In what part of the brain does someone store their own prejudice and find some rational notion that distorting the truth and spewing horrid things that tear down another human being is somehow okay? I believe it’s the part that can’t face down their own demons. When someone has to fight so hard to tear down another, it is simply a grand gesture in hopes of keeping their own insecurities and fears from being put on display. In two weeks, California will have a HUGE decision to make. Do we take a stand against improper and illegal funding for propositions by said religious organizations and say NO to spreading more hate OR do we take a million steps backward to propagate the same simplemindedness that allowed organizations like the KKK to prevail for so long? I will fight for the rest of my life to ensure equal rights for all human beings. Silencing those you don’t understand is simply silencing all sense of decency and hope and I will NEVER take part in that.
