humor

“A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.” - Henry Ward Beecher When things get really stressful for me, I either run, hide, and cry OR I laugh in nervous discomfort. All I know is laughing is soooo much better. You know, I realize some people throw in a sappy film when they need to feel something but for me, I think I’d rather laugh. Longing is not fun. Wanting, horribly strangulating. But laughing - laughing takes you to a place so deep it makes the sting of anything painful just lift away and breathe life back into you. “Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.” - Bill Cosby And so while last night on my vacation, after a day of amazing beauty and a night of intoxicating fun - reality hit and I cried. It felt good but it only reminded me that the things to come won’t always be so airy and fluffy. I got trapped in a moment of vulnerability and at the end of it I made a choice. I am done with the tears. While sometimes when no one is around and I can be honest and raw, I will let the tears take a stroll down my cheeks but not as often as I had before. Tonight it was a HUGE reversal of mindset. I knew I had no more tears in me. I have been free and smiling and spending my days in the company of my friend and so - in the spirit of change we went to see “Hangover”. Ahh, these movies might seem crude to some but to me, what a brilliant piece of cinematic comedy! Anyone who can make themselves a total fool is a dream guy in my book. Humor is by far the greatest trait in a human. I think in life, we often lose our grasp on what is tangible and real. We dream and we desire but if you can’t laugh through that - or have passion - or drive: it won’t really work. When the world seems too heavy to bear, tell me a joke and bust out your wit. It will break through me every time.
